Terms of Service & Community Guidelines — شروط الاستخدام وقواعد المجتمع
Khatawaat · Version 1.1 · Effective date: [Effective Date] · Operated by [Company Legal Name], [Company Address] (the "Company", "we", "us")
In short: be honest with your numbers, be kind to other members, keep photos appropriate, never give or follow dangerous diet advice, and remember that XP, badges and leaderboards are a game — not a measure of your health or a reason to lose weight unsafely. We moderate the community actively and remove anyone who makes it unsafe.
Part A — Terms of Service
1. Agreement and eligibility
1.1 These Terms of Service (the "Terms"), together with the Privacy Policy, the Medical & Health Disclaimer and the Community Guidelines in Part B (all incorporated by reference), form a binding agreement between you and the Company governing your use of the Khatawaat mobile applications, web application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1.2 You must be at least 18 years old, able to enter a binding contract under the law of your country, and not previously banned from the Service. The Service is designed for adults and is not directed at children.
1.3 We may update these Terms. We will give at least [Notice Period, e.g. 14 days] notice of material changes in the app or by email and, where consent is required, ask for it. Continued use after the effective date of a change means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not, delete your account before that date.
2. The Service
2.1 Khatawaat provides tools to log and track body weight and related metrics, calculators that estimate body-mass index and energy needs, milestone "circles" that group members with the same goal, community feeds, peer challenges, and game-style rewards — experience points ("XP"), levels, badges and streaks — that encourage consistent habits.
2.2 The Service is not medical care. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for a physician or dietitian. You are responsible for consulting a qualified professional before changing your diet or exercise, as set out in the Medical & Health Disclaimer, which you must read and acknowledge before using the Service.
2.3 We may add, change, suspend or remove features, circles, challenges, rewards and rules at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce the Service.
3. Your account
3.1 One account per person. You may hold a single account, in your own name, with accurate information. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold or transferred.
3.2 Credentials. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method (email/password or Google account) secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us at once at support@khatawaat.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
3.3 Your data must be yours and true. Enter only your own measurements, honestly recorded. Do not log another person's data, fabricate or systematically mis-enter weights, or alter dates to gain rewards (see Section 8).
3.4 Health data consent. Core features require processing of health data, which we collect only with your explicit consent as described in the Privacy Policy. Withdrawing that consent closes the account.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
4.1 You agree to use the Service lawfully, respectfully and for its intended purpose. You must not:
a) harass, bully, threaten, shame, intimidate, stalk or demean any person, including body-shaming or mocking anyone's weight, shape, progress, appearance, culture or religion; b) post hate speech or content that attacks or dehumanises people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, body size or any other protected characteristic; c) post nude, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive images or text, including "progress" photos that expose genitals, buttocks or (for women) nipples, or photos taken to sexualise the body; progress photos must be at least swimwear- or workout-wear-appropriate, and no photos of minors are permitted; d) give, promote or solicit dangerous or unverified medical, dietary or exercise advice, including: extreme caloric restriction or prolonged fasting, "pro-ana" / "pro-mia" / "thinspiration" content, purging or laxative misuse, unprescribed use of medication (including GLP-1 drugs, diuretics, stimulants or steroids) or their sale, detox or "cleanse" cures, diets presented as treatment for medical conditions, or any content that presents you as a medical professional, dietitian or coach without a verifiable licence; e) encourage anyone to lose weight faster than is safe, to ignore medical advice, or to pursue a target weight below a healthy range; f) impersonate any person or organisation, misrepresent your identity, age, qualifications or results, or use another member's photos as your own; g) post spam, unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, multi-level-marketing recruitment, or promote products, supplements, programmes or services, except where we expressly allow it; h) collect, publish or threaten to publish other members' personal data (doxxing), including screenshots of circle-only or private content shared outside its intended audience; i) upload malware, scrape or harvest data, use bots or automation to interact with the Service, probe or circumvent security or rate limits, or interfere with the Service's operation; j) infringe anyone's intellectual-property, privacy or publicity rights, or post content you do not have the right to share; k) manipulate the gamification systems, leaderboards or challenges in breach of Section 8; l) use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms, the Community Guidelines or applicable law.
4.2 Feeds. Public and circle feeds are for progress updates, encouragement, questions and experiences. Keep them on-topic, supportive and free of the content listed in 4.1. Respect each post's audience: do not re-share circle-only or private content elsewhere.
4.3 Milestone circles. Circle membership is assigned automatically from your goal direction and progress. Treat your circle as a team: no gatekeeping, recruiting to outside groups, or pressuring members about their pace. Members who regress or pause remain welcome.
4.4 Peer challenges. Challenges are voluntary. Check in honestly, respect the rules of each challenge, and do not create or join challenges that promote unsafe behaviour (for example "lose 10 kg in 2 weeks" or fasting contests). We may remove such challenges and the accounts that create them.
5. Your content
5.1 Ownership. You keep all rights in the photos, posts, comments and other material you create ("Your Content").
5.2 Licence to us. So that we can operate the Service, you grant the Company a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable (only to a successor of the Service) and sub-licensable (only to our hosting and delivery providers) licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, blur, transmit and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing, securing and improving the Service to the audience you selected. We do not use Your Content for advertising or marketing without your separate written permission. The licence ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for (i) copies in backups and caches for the periods stated in the Privacy Policy and (ii) content we must retain for legal reasons.
5.3 Responsibility. You are solely responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have all rights needed to post it, that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that it complies with these Terms.
5.4 Other members' content. Content posted by members is their own opinion and is not endorsed or verified by us. Never rely on it as medical or nutritional advice.
6. Moderation, reporting and enforcement
6.1 Reporting. Every post, comment, photo, profile and challenge has a Report action. You can also write to abuse@khatawaat.com. Reports are confidential; we do not reveal who reported. Please do not misuse reporting to target members you simply disagree with.
6.2 Our rights. We may, at any time and without prior notice, review, hide, remove or refuse any content, restrict features, remove members from leaderboards or challenges, suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines or that we reasonably believe poses a risk to others or to the Service. We may do this in response to a report, automated detection or our own review.
6.3 Zero tolerance. The following result in immediate removal of the content and permanent ban, without the warning steps in the Community Guidelines: bullying or harassment, hate speech, nude or sexual images, any sexual content involving minors (which we also report to the authorities), threats of violence, doxxing, promotion of eating disorders or of dangerous medical or diet practices, and selling or sourcing prescription medication.
6.4 Appeals. If your content was removed or your account restricted, you may appeal within [Appeal Window, e.g. 14 days] by writing to appeals@khatawaat.com with your account email and the reason you believe the decision was wrong. A person who was not involved in the original decision reviews appeals and replies within [Appeal Response Time, e.g. 10 business days]. Zero-tolerance bans may be upheld without further review where the evidence is clear.
6.5 Cooperation with authorities. We may disclose content and account information to law-enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law or where we reasonably believe it necessary to prevent serious harm.
6.6 Safety interventions. Where content suggests a member may be at risk (for example disordered eating or self-harm), we may show safety resources, limit gamification features for that account, or contact the member. These are good-faith measures, not medical assessments.
7. Privacy, photos and visibility
Your use of the Service is subject to the Privacy Policy. Weight, height and targets are private by default; display name, avatar, level, badges and circle are visible to members; posts and photos follow the privacy level you choose (public, circle-only, private); face-blur is applied on your device before upload; you may delete any photo or your whole account at any time. You are responsible for choosing an appropriate audience for each item you share.
8. Gamification and leaderboard fairness
8.1 What the rewards mean. XP, levels, badges, streaks, circle milestones and leaderboard ranks are game mechanics that reward consistent, honest participation. They have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, exchanged or transferred, do not constitute property, and may be changed, recalculated, reset or discontinued at our discretion.
8.2 How rewards work. XP is awarded for defined actions (for example a daily weigh-in, attaching a photo, reaching a streak milestone, crossing a circle milestone, completing a challenge) at rates we publish in the app. Each action is rewarded once (one weigh-in XP award per calendar day in your time zone). Leaderboards rank members in a circle by XP earned in that circle and by consistency — never by the amount of weight lost or gained — so that no one is rewarded for unsafe speed. Streaks count consecutive days with a weigh-in and may include limited grace rules we publish.
8.3 Fair-play rules. You must not: a) hold more than one account, or use another person's account, to earn rewards or move leaderboards; b) fabricate, systematically falsify, bulk-import or back-date weigh-ins or check-ins beyond the editing window the app allows ([Edit Window, e.g. 48 hours]), or log weights that are not your own real measurements; c) use scripts, bots, emulators, modified clients or exploits to earn XP, keep streaks or manipulate rankings; d) collude with other members to inflate challenge results or to exclude others; e) exploit a bug or unintended behaviour — report it to support@khatawaat.com instead; good-faith reports may earn a badge.
8.4 Plausibility checks. Entries that are physiologically implausible (for example a change of more than [Plausibility Threshold, e.g. 5 %] of body weight within 24 hours) may be flagged. We may ask you to confirm them, hold the associated XP until confirmed, or exclude them from leaderboards and challenges. Flagging is not an accusation; it protects both your data and the fairness of the circle.
8.5 Adjustments. We may at any time correct, recalculate, void or remove XP, badges, streaks, ranks or challenge results that were obtained in breach of these rules or through error, and may apply such corrections retroactively. Our team may also add or remove XP by hand to resolve a support case (for example an award the app missed); every manual correction is recorded with its reason, and we tell you about it in the app (inbox and, if you allow it, a notification). Repeated or deliberate violations may lead to exclusion from leaderboards and challenges or to termination.
8.6 Leaderboard visibility. You may appear anonymously on leaderboards (Settings → Privacy → Anonymous on leaderboards). Leaderboards may be reset at the start of each period we define. Rank is computed from XP earned in the circle plus a consistency score, using the formula published in the app; ties are broken by the rules published there.
8.7 Challenges and prizes. Unless a challenge expressly states otherwise, there are no prizes other than in-app rewards. Where we or a partner offer a real-world prize, additional rules will be published with the challenge and may exclude residents of certain countries where such promotions are restricted.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, logos, badge artwork, text and the compilation of community content, is owned by the Company or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from the Service except as permitted by law. Feedback you give us may be used without obligation to you.
10. Third-party services
Sign-in with Google, push notifications and app distribution are provided by third parties under their own terms (including the Apple App Store and Google Play terms, which apply in addition to these Terms). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is at your own risk.
11. Disclaimers
11.1 The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
11.2 We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that calculators or metrics are accurate for you, that community content is reliable, or that use of the Service will achieve any health or weight outcome.
11.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company and its directors, employees, contractors and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, health outcomes, injury resulting from your reliance on information in the Service or on content from other members, or loss of in-app rewards, arising out of or relating to the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim or (b) [Liability Cap, e.g. USD 100]. These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or gross negligence or wilful misconduct where applicable law so provides.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company from claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from Your Content, your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or third-party right, to the extent permitted by law.
14. Suspension and termination
14.1 By you. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account), which permanently erases your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
14.2 By us. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately for breach of these Terms or the Community Guidelines, for conduct that risks the safety of members, for prolonged inactivity as described in the Privacy Policy, or if we discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice where possible). On termination your licence to use the Service ends and your data is deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy, except where we must retain minimal records of the enforcement action.
14.3 Sections that by their nature should survive (including 5.2 for the retention periods stated, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15 and
- survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
15.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of [Governing Law Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.
15.2 If you have a dispute with us, please contact support@khatawaat.com first; we will try to resolve it informally within [Informal Resolution Period, e.g. 30 days]. Otherwise, disputes shall be brought before the courts of [Courts / Arbitration Venue], except that consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence where the law so allows. [Counsel: insert arbitration clause and consumer-ODR references if desired.]
16. General
Entire agreement; severability (if a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in force); no waiver by delay in enforcement; we may assign these Terms to a successor of the Service, you may not assign them; notices to you may be given in the app or by email to your registered address, notices to us at legal@khatawaat.com; nothing in these Terms creates a partnership or agency. These Terms are available in English and Arabic; the [Prevailing Language] version prevails in case of conflict unless local law requires otherwise.

Part B — Community Guidelines (قواعد المجتمع)
These guidelines are the plain-language rules of the Khatawaat community. They apply to every post, comment, photo, reaction, challenge, display name, avatar and profile. Breaking them is a breach of the Terms of Service.
1. Be kind — we are all somewhere on the same road
- Cheer effort, not just results. Celebrate consistency, honesty and comebacks.
- No body-shaming, mocking, "tough love" insults, unsolicited critiques of someone's body or pace, or comparisons meant to belittle. No comments on anyone's body that you would not say to a friend's face.
- Disagree with ideas, never attack people. No harassment, pile-ons, threats or intimidation — including in reactions and display names.
- Respect every culture, religion, language, gender, body size and background. Hate speech of any kind is a permanent ban.
2. Keep it honest
- Log your real weight, on the real day. Edits are for fixing typos, not for rewriting history.
- One account per person. Rewards earned by cheating are removed, and repeated cheating ends your membership.
- Say what is true about yourself: no fake results, fake credentials or someone else's photos.
3. No dangerous advice — ever
- Do not tell anyone how much to eat, what to cut out, what pills to take or how fast to lose. Share your experience ("this worked for me"), not instructions ("you should").
- Never promote fasting contests, extreme calorie limits, purging, laxatives, diuretics, "detox" cures, unprescribed medication or supplements as treatment, or content that glorifies thinness or starvation. This includes memes and "motivation" images.
- If you are a licensed professional, you may say so only with verification by us, and even then you may not give individual prescriptions in the community.
- If you see someone who may be in trouble, be kind, encourage them to speak to a professional, and use Report → Safety concern so we can help.
4. Photos
- Progress photos are welcome and brave. Keep them appropriate: workout wear or swimwear at minimum, no nudity, nothing posed to sexualise the body.
- Only photos of yourself. No photos of children, and no photos of other people without their clear permission.
- Use face-blur if you prefer, and pick the audience — public, circle-only or private — before you post. Never screenshot or re-share someone else's circle-only or private photo.
5. Respect privacy
- What is shared in a circle stays in the circle. Do not repost members' content, weights or stories elsewhere.
- Do not ask for or share personal details such as phone numbers, addresses, workplaces or medical records.
6. Keep the feed useful
- Stay on topic: progress, habits, questions, encouragement.
- No spam, advertising, affiliate links, coaching offers, product promotion, fundraising or recruiting to other groups, unless we have explicitly allowed it.
- Post in the language of your circle (Arabic or English) so everyone can join in; be patient with translations.
7. Play fair in challenges
- Join challenges you intend to complete, check in truthfully, and encourage your challenge partners.
- Do not create challenges that encourage unsafe speed or restriction. We remove them.
8. Reporting and what happens next
- Use Report on any post, comment, photo, profile or challenge, or email abuse@khatawaat.com. Reports are confidential.
- Our moderators review reports and may remove content, send a warning, restrict features (posting, leaderboards, challenges), suspend temporarily or ban permanently. For most first-time, minor issues we warn and explain; for anything on the zero-tolerance list in the Terms (harassment, hate speech, nudity, sexual content involving minors, threats, doxxing, promotion of eating disorders or dangerous medical practices, dealing in medication) we remove the account immediately.
- You can appeal any decision within [Appeal Window] at appeals@khatawaat.com.
9. Your wellbeing comes first
Streaks and leaderboards are a game. If they ever feel like pressure, hide them in Settings, take a break, or talk to someone you trust. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or [Local Mental-Health / Eating-Disorder Helpline] — the community cannot replace professional help.
Thank you for helping keep Khatawaat a safe, honest and encouraging place.
