Medical & Health Disclaimer — إخلاء المسؤولية الطبية
Khatawaat · Version 1.0 · Effective date: [Effective Date] · Operated by [Company Legal Name]
Please read this notice carefully before using Khatawaat. It is shown during sign-up, before you set a goal, and is available at any time under Profile → Settings → Legal. By using the Service you confirm that you have read and understood it.
1. What Khatawaat is — and what it is not
Khatawaat (the "Service", available as a mobile app and a web app) provides general fitness and weight-management tools: weight and progress tracking, body-metric calculators, milestone "circles", community feeds, peer challenges, and game-style rewards (XP, levels, badges and streaks) that encourage consistent habits.
Everything the Service shows you — including calculated values, milestones, suggested targets, badges, articles, notifications and content posted by other members — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.
The Service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Khatawaat is not a medical device, is not a healthcare provider and is not a substitute for a licensed physician, registered dietitian, clinical nutritionist, psychologist or any other qualified health professional. Using the Service does not create a doctor–patient or any other professional relationship between you and [Company Legal Name], its staff or its contributors.
Never disregard, delay or change professional medical advice because of something you read or saw in the Service.
2. Talk to a doctor before you start — mandatory for some users
Any change in diet, calorie intake, exercise or body weight can affect your health. You should consult a qualified health professional before starting any weight-management or exercise plan, and you must do so before using the Service to pursue a weight goal if any of the following applies to you:
- you have, or suspect you have, a chronic or ongoing medical condition, including but not limited to diabetes (type 1 or type 2), hypertension (high blood pressure) or other cardiovascular disease, thyroid disorders, kidney or liver disease, gastrointestinal disease, cancer, or a metabolic or endocrine disorder;
- you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding — weight loss is generally not appropriate during pregnancy or while nursing, and your nutritional needs are different;
- you have a current or past eating disorder (such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder or ARFID) or a history of disordered eating, compulsive exercise or body-image concerns;
- you take prescription medication, in particular medication for diabetes, blood pressure, heart conditions, thyroid function, mental health or weight (including GLP-1 medicines), since changes in diet or weight may require dose adjustments by your doctor;
- you have had bariatric or other surgery, or are recovering from illness or injury;
- you are under 18 years of age (the Service is not intended for you — see the Terms of Service), or you are an older adult with frailty, osteoporosis or sarcopenia;
- your body-mass index is below the healthy range as calculated by the Service, or you intend to reach a target weight that would put you below it;
- you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness or joint pain during ordinary physical activity.
If you are unsure whether any of the above applies to you, assume that it does and ask a health professional first.
3. Calculators and metrics are estimates
The Service may display body-mass index (BMI), estimated basal metabolic rate (BMR), estimated total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), weight-change rates, remaining progress to a target and similar figures. These are population-level estimates derived from published formulas using the height, weight, age, sex and activity level you enter. They:
- do not account for body composition, muscle mass, bone density, medical conditions, medication, pregnancy or individual metabolic differences, and may be inaccurate for athletes, adolescents, older adults and people with certain conditions;
- are only as accurate as the data you enter and the scale you use;
- are not a diagnosis of being underweight, overweight or obese, and not a prescription for how much you should eat, exercise or weigh.
Where the Service shows an indicative "healthy" range or rate of change, it reflects general guidance for healthy adults (for example a gradual loss of roughly 0.5–1 kg per week) and may not be appropriate for you. Any target weight, calorie figure or pace you set in the Service is your own choice; discuss it with a professional.
4. Community content is not professional advice
Posts, comments, photos, tips, recipes, meal plans, supplement suggestions and challenge ideas shared by other members are the personal opinions and experiences of those members. They are not reviewed by medical professionals, are not endorsed by [Company Legal Name], and may be wrong or unsafe for you. Members are prohibited from presenting themselves as medical professionals or giving individual medical or dietary prescriptions (see the Community Guidelines). Treat all community content as you would advice from a stranger: with care, and never as a replacement for your own doctor.
5. Gamification is about consistency — not about losing weight fast
Streaks, XP, levels, badges and circle milestones are designed to reward regular, honest tracking and steady habits. They are not a judgement of your health or your worth, and they must never be a reason to:
- skip meals, fast for extended periods, purge, or restrict food or fluids;
- exercise through pain, illness, injury or exhaustion;
- lose weight faster than your doctor considers safe;
- weigh yourself compulsively or let the numbers affect your mental wellbeing.
If keeping a streak or climbing a leaderboard starts to feel like pressure, pause. Your health always comes first, and you can hide leaderboards, mute streak reminders or take a break from the Service at any time in Settings.
6. Stop and seek medical help if you notice warning signs
Stop any diet or exercise plan and contact a health professional promptly if you experience, for example: chest pain or pressure, fainting or persistent dizziness, severe shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, severe or persistent headaches, confusion, unexplained rapid weight loss, hair loss, loss of menstruation, persistent fatigue or weakness, cold intolerance, obsessive thoughts about food or weight, or any symptom that worries you.
7. Emergencies
Khatawaat is not an emergency service and is not monitored for emergencies. If you believe you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number immediately (for example [Local Emergency Number] in [Country]). If you are struggling with an eating disorder or thoughts of self-harm, please contact a qualified professional or a local support line such as [Local Mental-Health / Eating-Disorder Helpline].
8. No guarantee of results
Individual results vary. [Company Legal Name] makes no representation or warranty that using the Service will result in weight loss, weight gain, improved fitness, or any particular health outcome, and the Service is provided "as is" as further described in the Terms of Service.
9. Your responsibility
By using the Service you acknowledge that:
- you have read and understood this Disclaimer;
- you are solely responsible for decisions you make about your diet, exercise and health, and for the accuracy of the data you enter;
- you will consult a qualified health professional where this Disclaimer or common sense requires it; and
- to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, [Company Legal Name] and its officers, employees, contractors and partners are not liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from your reliance on information or features in the Service or on content posted by other members. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot be excluded.
