Getting started

Your first days on Khatawaat, step by step.

What should I do first?

Follow the Getting started card on your home screen: add a profile photo, log your first weigh-in, connect your health data, join a quest, cheer someone on, follow a member and turn on notifications. Each step pays 10 XP, and finishing all seven unlocks the Ready to go badge.

I hid Getting started. How do I bring it back?

Open this help centre while signed in and choose "Show Getting started again". Steps you already did stay ticked.

Is there a phone app?

Yes, for Android. It has everything the website has, plus Health Connect, so your steps, sleep and heart rate come in by themselves. An iPhone app will follow later.

How do I switch between Arabic and English?

Use the language button at the top of any page, or Settings → Preferences. You can also choose Arabic or Western digits there.

XP, levels and badges

XP rewards the habits that matter. Some actions have a daily limit so that steady effort beats bursts.

How do I earn XP?

Weigh-in: 20 XP (once a day), plus 10 for a progress photo. Quest check-in: 15 XP (up to 5 a day). Daily goal reached with recorded health data: 10 XP (up to 3 a day, shared with plan workouts). Plan workout matched by a recorded one: 15 XP. Post: 10 XP (up to 3 a day). Comment: 5 XP (up to 10 a day). Cheer received: 2 XP (up to 25 a day). Getting started step: 10 XP each, once. Invite a friend who finishes onboarding: 50 XP for you, 25 for them. Streak milestones, finished quests, new circles and badges pay bonus XP.

How do levels work?

Your total XP decides your level. Each level needs a bit more XP than the one before, so early levels come fast and later ones show real consistency. Your XP history (from your profile) lists every point and why you got it.

Why did I lose some XP?

When you correct or delete a weigh-in, the XP it earned is taken back, and anything it unlocked is recalculated. Our team may also adjust XP that was earned against the rules. Both show in your XP history.

How do I unlock badges?

Badges reward milestones, streaks, consistency and community spirit. Open Badges to see every badge, what it takes and how close you are. You can pin up to three on your profile.

Streaks

A streak counts the days in a row you showed up.

What counts as a streak day?

A weigh-in or a quest check-in on that day, in your own time zone. Posts and comments don't count.

I missed a day. Is my streak gone?

Not yet. At midnight your streak pauses for 24 hours. Use a streak freeze in that time to cover the missed day and keep your streak. If you log instead, a new streak starts from 1.

How do streak freezes work?

You earn one freeze for every 7 days in a row, and you can hold up to 3. Freezes are never used automatically: you choose when to spend one.

When do I get a reminder?

In the evening (8 pm by default) if you haven't logged yet. Change the time or turn it off in Settings → Notifications.

Milestone circles

Circles group people at the same stage of their journey, so you compete and chat with peers.

How am I placed in a circle?

By your progress since you started: how far you've come towards your goal, not your weight itself. Each circle covers one stretch and has its own leaderboard and feed.

When do I move to the next circle?

As soon as a weigh-in takes you into the next stretch. You get bonus XP and a badge for every circle you reach.

Can I drop back a circle?

Only if you stay clearly below your circle's range for a whole week. A bad day or a heavy weekend won't move you.

I'm maintaining my weight. Where do I fit?

Maintainers have their own circle. Your goal is steadiness, and your weekly weigh-ins keep you in it.

Quests

Short challenges with a clear finish line.

How do quests work?

Join a quest, then check in on each day you do it: steps, water, workouts, sleep or weigh-ins. Each check-in pays 15 XP, and finishing the quest pays its reward and can unlock badges.

Why can't I join some quests?

Some quests open at a higher level. Keep earning XP and they unlock.

Can I leave a quest?

Yes, at any time from the quest page. The XP you already earned stays yours.

Health data

Khatawaat brings your numbers together and explains them. It never diagnoses.

How do I connect my health data?

In the Android app, open Today and tap Connect. Khatawaat reads from Health Connect only the kinds of data you allow, such as steps, sleep, heart rate and workouts. On the website you see the same data once it's synced.

Can I type my numbers instead?

Yes. You can enter water, steps and sleep by hand. Typed numbers count towards your goals, but only recorded data pays daily-goal XP.

How do I stop sharing health data?

Settings → Health data → Disconnect. You can also remove the permissions in Health Connect at any time.

Is this medical advice?

No. Khatawaat uses public health guidelines to explain your numbers and suggest habits. When something looks worth checking, it tells you to see a doctor. Talk to your doctor before big changes.

Exercise plans

Ready-made plans that grow with you, from first walks to stronger sessions.

How do I start a plan?

Open Plans, pick one that fits your level and tap Start. Starting another plan replaces the current one.

How does a plan day count?

When a workout recorded by your phone or watch matches the day's session, it's ticked by itself and pays XP. You can also mark it done by hand, without XP.

What if something hurts?

Stop. Rest, and talk to a doctor if the pain stays. Plans are general guidance, not a programme made for your body.

Meals and nutrition

Log meals to see your day's calories and macros.

How do I log a meal?

Open Meals, choose the meal and search for a dish. Recent dishes and favourites are one tap away, and you can add your own.

Where do my daily targets come from?

They're estimates from your profile and goal using standard formulas. Change them any time in Settings → Daily goals. They're not a diet prescription.

Can I scan a barcode?

Yes. In the Android app, tap Scan a barcode when you add a dish; the camera reads the code on the pack and nothing is recorded. On the website, type the number printed under the barcode. We look it up in our list and in Open Food Facts.

The product isn't found. Can I add it?

Yes. Enter the values from the nutrition label (and, if you like, a photo of it). You can log it straight away; our team checks it before others see it.

Spaces and family

Smaller groups beside your milestone circle: a cohort, your family and, for women, women-only circles.

What is a cohort?

A group of up to 50 members who start on the same Monday and go through 12 weeks side by side. Join the next one from Today or Circles → Your spaces. When the 12 weeks end, the cohort stays as an alumni space.

How do family circles work?

Start one from Circles → Your spaces, give it a name and share the code or link with up to 7 more adults. Each person chooses what the family sees: milestones, streak, progress (the share of the way to the goal, never kilos), active days and, only if they turn it on, their weight. Leaving removes your card at once.

Who sees women-only circles?

Only members whose gender in their profile is female. Nobody else sees that these circles exist. We use your gender for nothing else there.

Who are Noor, Karim, Sara, Layla and Omar?

They're Khatawaat Hosts: characters run by our team, always labelled Khatawaat Host. They post prompts, tips and weekly rituals in circles and spaces. They aren't members, never post weight results, and see no more than any other member of the circle.

Can my company use Khatawaat?

Yes, with Khatawaat for Teams: a private company space joined with a code, team step challenges and a report that shows group numbers only. See khatawaat.com/teams.

Buddies and messages

Up to 3 accountability buddies, short messages and the tools to keep your space calm.

How do I find a buddy?

Open Buddies for suggestions of members with a similar goal, start date, language and activity, or ask from a member's card. You can have up to 3 buddies. Turn off "Show me in buddy suggestions" if you'd rather not be suggested.

What are nudges and cheers?

Once a day per buddy you can send a nudge ("you've got this") and a cheer ("well done"). They arrive as a notification.

Who can message me?

Your buddies and members you follow who follow you back. Messages are text only, up to 1,000 characters. You can unsend your own message, and report one that bothers you.

How do I block someone?

From their card or a conversation, choose Block. You stop seeing each other everywhere: posts, comments, messages, buddies and search. They aren't told. Settings → Blocked members lists everyone you blocked.

Photos

Your profile photo, photos in posts and private progress photos.

How do I add a profile photo?

Settings → Profile → Add photo, then crop it to a circle. You can change or remove it any time. It never shows on anonymous posts.

How do photo posts work?

Add up to 4 photos to a post. Mark one as sensitive and others see a blurred preview until they tap Show photo. Photos are shrunk and stripped of location and camera details on your phone before they're uploaded.

Who sees my progress photos?

Only you, unless you change it. Attach one photo to a weigh-in and compare before and after on Profile → Photos.

Something in a photo isn't right. What do I do?

Use Report this photo on the photo. Our team reviews it, and a photo several members report is hidden until then.

Community

Kind, respectful and on topic: that's what keeps it a good place.

Can I post without showing my name?

Yes. Choose Anonymous when you post or comment. Our moderators can still act on posts that break the community guidelines.

What are cheers and follows?

A cheer is a quick reaction that tells someone you see their effort. Following a member shows their posts and progress in your feed. They're told someone followed them, not who.

How do I report something?

Use the ⋯ menu on a post or comment and choose Report. Our team reviews every report.

Wellbeing and experts

Notice how you feel, slow down for a minute, and learn from verified professionals. None of it is medical care.

What is the mood check-in?

Once a day, tap your mood and your stress (1 to 5) and, if you like, a few tags and a private note. Only you see it, and it earns no XP. Wellbeing shows your trend over 7, 30 or 90 days.

What if I've had a hard week?

If your mood has been low on several days, Wellbeing suggests talking to someone you trust, your doctor or a professional. Khatawaat isn't a mental-health service; in an emergency, contact your local emergency number.

How does guided breathing work?

Choose box breathing or 4-7-8 and 1 to 5 minutes. A circle grows and shrinks with your breath (it stays still if you've turned on reduced motion). A session of 30 seconds or more ticks your Breathe habit.

What is a verified expert?

A licensed dietitian, trainer, doctor, psychologist or physiotherapist whose licence our team checked. Their badge shows their field. Experts give general guidance, not diagnoses or treatment.

How do I ask an expert or become one?

Turn on Ask an expert when you write a post; experts see it under the Questions filter. Licensed professionals can apply from Wellbeing → Apply as an expert; verification lasts 12 months and can be renewed.

Khatawaat Plus

Extra tools for members who want more. It isn't on sale yet, and nothing is locked.

What will Plus add?

A longer insights history, the whole plan library, questions to verified experts, extra streak freezes, before-and-after comparisons, a monthly progress report and custom cohorts. Safety features, your data and everything you use today stay free.

What will it cost?

79 EGP a month or 599 EGP a year in Egypt, 19 SAR or AED a month or 149 a year in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and 4.99 USD a month or 39.99 USD a year elsewhere, with a 7-day free trial. No payment is taken today.

What is a founding seat?

The first 1,000 members who claim a seat on the Plus page get 3 months of Plus free when it launches. You can also ask to be told when Plus launches.

Privacy

Your numbers are yours.

Who can see my weight?

Only you. Leaderboards rank progress, XP and consistency, never weight. You decide whether your posts show your name.

Can I hide from leaderboards?

Yes. Settings → Privacy lets you appear anonymously or hide competitive features altogether.

How do I get a copy of my data?

Settings → Account → Download my data gives you a file with everything we hold about you.

What does my family or company see?

A family circle sees only what you choose to share with it; your weight stays hidden unless you turn it on. A company sees group numbers of about 5 people or more, never your weight or anything about you alone.

Your account

Sign-in, e-mail, password and deleting your account.

How do I change my e-mail?

Settings → Account → Change e-mail. Enter the new address and your password, then open the link we send to the new address. Nothing changes until you do. Your old address gets a notice with a way to undo it. After the change, sign in again with the new address.

I sign in with Google. Can I change my e-mail?

Your e-mail comes from your Google account, so it changes only there. If you need a different address on Khatawaat, contact us.

I forgot my password.

On the login page, tap "Forgot your password?" and we'll e-mail you a reset link. Signed in already? Settings → Account → Change password.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete my account. You have 30 days to change your mind by signing in again; after that your data is erased.

Still need help?

Signed in? Use Settings → Contact us and we'll reply inside the app. Otherwise, e-mail us and we'll get back to you within two working days.
